When: Saturday, August 9th, 2008, 10:00 am
Team Entry Fee: $100 (3 to 5 players)
Entry Deadline: August 1st, 2008 (T-shirts must be ordered in advance, so priority will be given to entries received on or before July 12th)
As always, 100% of the proceeds from this tournament will be donated to help grant the wishes of Minnesota children with life-threatening medical conditions. We greatly appreciate your help and support of this great cause.
Included:
Participants are guaranteed to play at least 4 games during the day’s competition, and will receive a tournament t-shirt (first teams to register, first served in the case of limited supply). All necessary game equipment will be supplied. There will be food & beverage concessions available for purchase, raffles, and and live entertainment! Individual and team prizes will also be awarded.
Important things to know about the tournament:
Tourney Format: It’s a one-day tournament. Part 1 will be round-robin divisional play (with all teams guaranteed at least 4 games). The top teams will then advance to play a single-elimination playoff-style bracket to determine our champion.
Awards:
Trophies will be awarded to the top four finishing teams, and other awards will be given out as well (best team name, craziest uniforms, sportmanship, etc).
Equipment:
All equipment will be provided for you. So leave those aluminum bats and sanded balls at home! We’ll be using only the official yellow wiffle bats and original wiffle balls. To ensure a level playing field, only tournament supplied equipment will be allowed to be used during the games.
No cleats or spikes:
The repetitive motions of pitching and batting, combined with wearing spikes, are likely to unnecessarily damage the turf. Therefore, sneakers, sandals or even bare feet if you so choose will be the order of the day.
Alcohol & Food:
Limited food and beverage items will be sold at the tournament. Alcohol will not be sold at the tournament or be permitted on the park grounds.
Parking/Tailgating:
There is plenty of parking at Hopkins Central. Tailgating (as far as we know) is okay.
Remember:
We’re here to have fun and support a great cause. Unruliness (especially alcohol-related) will not be tolerated, and people who conduct themselves as such will be asked to leave the tournament.
